Pregnancy Music Belly Bands

Why pregnancy music belly bands?  Prenatal stimulation, using sounds and music while your baby is still in the womb has been shown scientifically to help with your baby’s brain development and growth.  It is also said that it helps later with cognitive development. Now, I’m no scientist but if playing music in utero will have a positive effect on a baby while still in your tummy then I’m all for it.  According to TV personalities and MD’s  Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen “We strongly endorse that practice—not just for brain development but also to allow your baby to hear your voice and establish an auditory bond at an early age.” Others doctors have stated that certain rhythms which are similar in form to a mothers heartbeat have a very calming effect on the baby while in the mothers womb. Again according to science, music mentally  helps shape memory and language, and physically, it introduces rhythm and coordination. Coordination helps with motor skills development. The International Journal Of Pediatrics recently published a study on Maternal Music Exposure During Pregnancy once again validating these conclusions.

Pregnancy Music Belly Bands And Their Placement

Everybody knows that babies tend to move around while they are being carried in the womb. They don’t just stay put in one place. Prenatal sound systems and music belts, at least the better quality ones, are designed with multiple speakers so that the baby can hear what is being played to him or her while in the womb no matter where their head is at. Call it a surround system for the womb if you like. Doctors say that babies are capable of hearing sounds in the womb from roughly 20 weeks or so after conception.

Prenatal Music Player And Music Belly Bands Varieties

There are a few different companies that have jumped onto the prenatal in utero music player market category. Some of them have been getting a lot of press coverage on TV shows lately as well.  The 2 products that we have looked at are the Nuvo Ritmo Pregnancy Sound System and the Belly Buds. There are a couple of other music belts for pregnancy out there but we happen to like these 2 the best out of them, and these two happen to be very popular sellers amongst pregnant women.

The Nuvo Ritmo prenatal sound system is what I would consider the Cadillac of pregnancy music belly bands. It’s just so easy to use, and comfortable to wear. You can hook up your iPod to it, it’s a stretchy comfortable material and it even offers additional support to your growing tummy which is also very important. It in my opinion is everything that you could ask for when it comes to a prenatal music player for your baby.

The other prenatal music belly band that I took a look at is called Belly Buds. Belly Buds is somewhat different in that there isn’t a music belly band to wear around your tummy. The Belly Buds are different in that they use adhesive Bellyphones, or speakers in a silicone cover that you stick to your belly with the adhesive rings. I have to say that many people love them, and that the biggest complaint that I have seen or heard of is that the adhesives don’t last as long as they should. With that in mind, the Belly Buds are cheaper than the Nuvo Rimo belly band but it is a completely different method of delivering the music to your womb. One is a wraparound belt and the other is a set of speakers that attach to your tummy. Both are good choices.

The Bottom Line On Prenatal Sound Systems

Both of these are great choices and you can’t really go wrong with either one of them. For me personally, I like the idea of a belt wrapping around me as it gives you extra support at a time when you need it the most, while providing the baby the music and or sounds which will help in his or her developmental stages while in the womb. For those of you who like more simplicity, Belly Buds Bellyphones system is a lot leaner, meaning plug in your iPhone, attach the 2 speakers and your off to the races. Personal choice, personal preference. Both the Belly Buds and The Nuvo Ritmo pregnancy music belly bands will serve you well during your pregnancy.
